Great value in the Zona Romantica
We loved our stay at the Tropicana. The room was large, clean and our junior suite had both a full kitchen and an amazing balcony overlooking the ocean. Room- decor was nice, space was clean, and very functional. Not as many frills as some places, but uncrowded, beautiful beach, reasonable food, and excellent location and service made this a place we will return to!

Visitors must pay fee, we take your money.
Money taken from room by cleaning staff, asked front desk for no more cleaners only to get two more come on day money taken. Washroom stank despite being clean, food in restaurant in premises was of sub standard quality and poorly cooked. Did not even have boiling water for tea. No visitors allowed to my room unless they paid a fee to access the hotel.

Fue una experiencia muy grata,realmente no conocía el hotel ya que lo contacté por la aplicación. Al llegar ,conocerlo y ver todas las instalaciones,sus espacios,la limpieza y sobre todo la amabilidad y el trato de las personas que atienden pues fue muy placentero y grato.... Lo recomiendo

A grand old dame offering good value
Positives: big airy lobby with a great ocean view, large rooms with comfy mattresses, weighty blankets in addition to sheets, plenty of pillows, in-room wifi. Turtle pond is a nice touch, and you get free access to the palapas and chairs on the beach. The sunsets were amazing from my room. Negatives: lots of under-utilized public spaces, old bathroom fixtures, slow check-in experience, not enough pool chairs since guests would hoard them early in the morning. Overall, good value, full of old people, gay-friendly of course.

The personnel was very friendly and the area was very nice. Rooms do need a little upgrade. The only thing I did not like about this hotel, They only give you one beach towel per day, I drop mine in the pool so I went to EXCHANGE it, NOT to keep both. And they told NO, Only one use per day

Hotels.com allowed us to book a room when the hotel staff said there were no such rooms available. The hotel staff were great but hotels.com representatives were absolutely horrible in handling this, later blaming this on the hotel and claiming they were only "mediators." There was no resolution and my family had to split up and stay with friends for the night.

I won't be staying here again.
I'll start by saying we have stayed here before and it was nice so expectations were not unreasonable. After a few minutes in our room we noticed a sewage smell in the bathroom. A common smell in PV I figured it was just the toilet water and kept the lid closed. We learned the next day that the toilet was actually leaking from the main seal onto the bathroom floor. I went to the front desk and asked for a different room and was told it can only happen at 8-9am because of their computer and they are powerless to do anything else. They did send up some used beach towels to wrap around the base of the toilet for the night and offered me a different room to sleep in that was up 4 floors with no elevator. The next morning I was sick and so my wife went to the front desk. They told her there were no other rooms and that I had most likely gotten too much sun and being sick with a stomach bug would have nothing to do with raw sewage on the floor. After much wasted effort all they could do was offer to fix the toilet but we were done and wanted a refund for our last unused day. They could not do that as I booked through Expedia so I have to spend my time working with them for that. Also the AC in the room would shut off after running for 2 minutes and then turn on 15 minutes later. This room was terrible so if you stay here check your room and don't let them give you an old one. Also the front desk is not there to help. They treat you like you will steal towels.

Disappointing Stay Despite the Great Location
The Tropicana Hotel has a fantastic location, sitting directly on the beach. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. During my stay, I stayed in 2 different rooms in 2 different buildings yet both had the same issue—a strong, sickly smell of mold. Visible signs of mold were present near the AC units, and as someone allergic to mold, I barely got any sleep. My friends, who were also staying at the hotel, experienced sinus trouble, coughing, and noticed the same unpleasant odor. While the hotel may seem like a great deal for a beachfront stay, there’s a clear reason for the lower price. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone I care about, and I certainly won’t be returning. I am also attaching a picture of the extension cord they provided me for my BiPap machine, which raises further concerns about the hotel’s upkeep and safety standards.

We had a very large I oceanfront room. Small kitchen with a full size fridge stove top and microwave. With basic utensils. Room 513 was great.
