We really wanted to like this place and had looked forward to the experience. Unfortunately, first impressions are everything, and this place missed the mark. We were in Austin to attend a wedding at the Grand Lady. The day we arrived, we had planned to participate in pre-wedding festivities. Unfortunately, our Glamped Tent was more like an Indian sweat lodge. The AC had not been turned on by staff prior to our arrival, which from a customer service perspective, is a basic courtesy given it was 90 degrees. Initially, we thought we weren't operating the remote correctly & requested help from the front desk. Ashley rather smugly explained it was user error. We tried again & again no cold air emerged from the AC unit. We finally gave up & requested a tent with working AC. Rather than offer options, Ashley condescendingly said she would give us a refund but since we'd booked through Expedia, it would take several days to process. We explained we needed accommodations for a wedding event & since we'd brought our puppy, we had no idea where else to go. Despite the bumpy start, we wanted to enjoy Rancho Moonrise & asked if there were other options onsite. Ultimately, we were placed in another Glamp Tent with working AC. Unclear why we had to work so hard for that, but we made the most of it, despite no staff onsite the rest of our stay. Given the nightly rate, we hope we aren't charged for the stale uneaten bag of chips we opened before realizing they were a year old!
