Woodlands Guest House Windermere
"Lovely place, nice breakfast and excellent staff. Room 15 needs a new shower head though!"

"Stayed for the second time. Great stay, really nice team and the breakfast was beautiful with lots of choice. Will be back again next year"
Lindeth Howe Hotel
"Room was spotless ,food was excellent ,lovely gardens and outside areas, staff were very friendly and welcoming would definitely stay there again"
Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa
"Excellent central location. The staff were helpful especially in reception and spa. The dining staff were efficient but less cheerful than one might expect in an establishment like this. Breakfast was plentiful but uninspiring. Luggage drop off was difficult due to heavy vehicles blocking the hotel entrance. The plumbing made a loud vibrating noise for 10 minutes after each toilet flush. The shower had excellent pressure and hot water. The room mini fridge had the internal light hanging down and the fridge didn’t appear to work. The hotel has old world charm and despite the small foibles mentioned above is a good accommodation option."
Linthwaite House
"Great garden and interior"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Windermere
- Book for the cheapest times: Visiting Windermere on a budget is a great value for money, especially in January, February, and November when hotel prices may drop to lower prices. For those interested in landmarks, history, and culture, a stay of at least 2 to 3 days is ideal for exploring key attractions such as the lake, hiking trails, nature spots, spa facilities, ferry services, sunny weather, an aquarium, cocktail bars, secluded retreats, and gardens. This affordable visit offers a perfect blend of exploration and relaxation without breaking the bank.
- Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: For your trip to Windermere, you may discover enticing hotel deals by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window section on Hotels.com. Should your itinerary be flexible, you could find exclusive offers in the Last-Minute Deals segment when planning closer to your departure date. Additionally, Hotels.com’s Smart Shopping comparison tool, available via the app, allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, ensuring you're more likely to see a competitive rate if availability changes.
- Be flexible with dates: Prices may differ depending on factors such as the hotel's location, star rating and time of year, so being flexible with your dates may help you save on your stay at the Windermere hotel. For travellers seeking distinctive accommodations, boutique hotels can provide a more personalised experience and may occasionally offer better value. When you book with Hotels.com, we will inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average, and if it is on the higher side, we may suggest more affordable dates to help you find a better deal.
- Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be more expensive, but with Windermere’s excellent public transport connections, you might find a more affordable independent hotel further afield that remains well connected. For those wishing to explore alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
