We booked an apartment with 2 bedrooms and a kitchen and received a small room with no closet, no second bedroom and no kitchen. We therefore incurred extra expense by eating out for every meal.
The location was not ideal as it was a 15 minute walk to the centre of town, to restaurants and the bus station. The side streets are very dark at night and hazardous.
Keeping in mind that this is a budget hotel, the common areas of the hotel are clean and pleasant. However, since it is listed as a hotel, I would expect daily cleaning service in the room. The bedding was unpleasant and the pillows completely flat.
Trying to resolve the problem about not getting the room we booked was not entirely satisfactory. The owner provided a discount however we did not think it adequate to cover the difference between the apartment we booked, the small room we received and the extra expense we incurred as a result. Communication with the owner off-site, was frustrating, time consuming and ended in unnecessary invective on her part.
The owner blamed Expedia for the mix-up, saying that the hotel is just told how many people to expect rather than what kind of accommodation they had booked. That has not been my experience with Expedia in the past. I hope that Expedia and the owner can work this out in the future.
