Hilton needs to stop this self-paid-parking scam
The hotel was fine. We've stayed there before when visiting family. The included breakfast was limited but generally edible, which is pretty much what you expect at this price point.
What we did not expect however was that we were asked to pay $15 per night to park in an unrestricted lot in the middle of nowhere in Chandler AZ where there was no shortage of parking spaces and no reasonable person would arrive at this hotel via ride-share.
The company "providing" this "service" was PMC. The "service" was announced only by a sign at the door with a QR code. The charge for parking was not disclosed on the hotels.com website nor on the hilton-hosted website for the hotel itself.
We elected not to pay the "parking charge", since it was not disclosed anywhere in the rate prior to our arrival, and there were no consequences for us not paying.
However there was a consequence for Hilton in that our esteem for the Hilton brand has fallen dramatically due to being confronted by this gratuitous money grab when we checked into the hotel in the evening weary after travelling all day.
I understand that many hotels are doing this now. Hilton has an opportunity to be a "market leader" by stopping this kind of surprise BS and instead honestly advertising their rates and services.
