This grand old building is like a museum from yesteryear. Our experience from check-in to check-out was wonderful.
Our room was huge - in fact, we had two bedrooms, which is probably uncommon, so we were just lucky. Many people's reviews complain about street noise (trams), but I think that's less of a problem in winter, maybe because of the triple-glazed windows which are kept closed. In the summer people tend to want to leave windows open (no air conditioning), and then the noise might be problematic. BTW, the receptionists issue ear plugs when you check in, but we didn't use it.
The bed was super comfy, and the pillows were soft and dreamy. The 3-piece bathroom was well equipped. The room furnishings were basic, but in good condition, and functional.
Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of continental food and beverage options on offer.
The hotel is located within walking distance of the main station in Bern, and the old city (10 minutes either way). As a result of this location, visitors are surrounded by tourist attractions, public transport, restaurants, bars, shopping, super markets, and more.
