The arrival as you drive up to the hotel is 5*. The setting is breathtaking and the welcome party is top notch.
That is where the 5* experience ended. The first room we were shown, while nice, had a young family next door and every sound from the TV, baby crying, parents talking, filtered through to our room. 45mins later we were shown a new room. The next morning at 9:00 we were woken by a banging noise outside... to find the cleaner a good 30metres down the corridor dusting. It seems this brand new hotel was not constructed with a view to much sound insulation for the rooms. The hotel staff need to stay inside the rooms to experience how noise travels into the rooms so they can work out how to operate for guest comfort.
The property size means it’s necessary to get around by buggy. Every time we called from the room, waited 5-10mins, went downstairs, and then had to wait another 5mins where the guard repeated our request. There is no seating downstairs so you have to stand around. I managed to order an Ola that reached the hotel in 10mins, and I was still waiting for the buggy which I ordered at the same time.
Other touches like car doors being opened when we pulled up in our non-hotel car, lobby doors being held open, etc were also absent. Hotel cars were not easily available which is a shortcoming for it being out of town.
Restaurant/reception staff were fantastic.
I would unlikely stay here again, and definitely not as a base to explore Udaipur.
