SCAM OF A "HOTEL"
I arrived just a few minutes after 6 and the lobby was CLOSED. What kind of hotel closes their lobby at 6PM?! My train was late or I would have been their earlier.
I knocked and this guy was able to take me to this lock box, handed me a set of keys and paper map that was barely readable in the light much less as it waa starting to get dark.
This isn't a hotel but a sprawling two to three block collection of old soviet buidings SOME of which belong to the apartments and some that don't.
So here I was in a country I've never been to whose language I didn't speak as well I thought I did having rolling panic attacks after their employee left me in the dark to fend for myself. He even saw me having this panic attack and did nothing. I called emergency number MULTIPLE times and nothing.
I called Hotels.com to have them help me find another hotel - I'm crying, hyperventilating, clearly distressed and NO help.
I had to find a REAL hotel on my own through my panic and PAY extra I wasn't expecting for it.
Now both the apartments AND Hotels.com are REFUSING to refund my money after the emotional turmoil and suffering they put me through.
Oh and even though I never stayed there I got a mysterious $26 charge from the apartments too the day after I left Berlin.
This will be a stain on the memories of this trip
Go with a trusted brand of a REAL hotel but stay FAR away from this place.
And if they want me to take this down and go away they can refund my money!
