Occasionally, when I arrive early, innkeepers either say, "Sorry, we don't have any rooms available early," or “let me see what I can do” and often they are happy to accommodate me. For the very first time in my forty years of business and pleasure travel over across four continents, Hawthorn by Wyndham wanted to charge me an outrageous amount to check in 90 minutes early, and they were very curt and impolite about it when I expressed my surprize, given this is the first time I’ve been asked to pay a junk fee for a slightly early check-in. This is a customer experience failure and I booked my December stay in the area in a competitor’s hotel not owned by the Wyndham group.
