I especially appreciated the Residence staff who quite literally went out of their way (ie they accompanied me to neighbourhood shops for essentials like buying a phone card) to support my needs during my stay.

Personnel très gentil et agréable je conseil vivement cette hôtel . Emplacement parfait si je suis amené à retourner à Dakar je reprendrais cette résidence. Le seul point négatif est la literie qui est dure .

The property is clean, beds are good, location is good. However, the water in the bathroom doesn’t work or extremely slow. I had to have the front desk personnel to check on it daily. Hot water only worked for 1 day. Air conditioning in the room doesn’t work. This property is not professionally managed. At night the front desk staff sleeps on the floor behind the desk right at the entrance, it looks extremely tacky and even scary at times. They should have a private room or a closed environment to sleep in, but has a door bell or an alarm to ring in case their services are required. I didn’t complain much because I was in Africa and it is expected to have these issues in Developing countries. However, I paid about $80/day for an apartment I expected more. The things that are basic to us, such as hot water in the West is a luxury in these countries. The owner of the property whom I never met in person but communicated to him/her through a staff member didn’t appear to have a solid understanding of the service industry. I had an early check in, but I was forced to leave 1 day before my check out date. The front desk guy working at that time argued with me with over that after tolerating 5 days of no hot water and no AC. On the positive side, the other front desk guy Devin who works alternate days is extremely nice and helpful, he solved many of the issues I had with my shower quickly and assisted as best he could. In fact, he made the stay bearable.

Too bad they’re not flexible
The place seems nice. It’s located on a quiet street very close to El Djoloff hotel which has a nice restaurant. The only disappointment was that they were very inflexible when approached about my mix-up. I was an invited speaker at a conference and only after arriving did I realize the conference organizers had booked me into another hotel and were covering my costs. I went to Rosekane to explain and see if they’d work with me for a partial refund since ai wouldn’t be staying there. The owner of Rosekane wouldn’t answer my call. When I went through Expedia for assistance, they couldn’t reach him for two days. When they reached him, he denied my request for a partial refund. Luckily I found another conference attendee to ‘sublet’ the room for 2 of the 6 nights I booked. I never even slept one night there, but they kept my full payment - $410 USD. I even paid for booking insurance through Expedia... terms and conditions didn’t cover this scenario. So, I can’t really recommend them based on their customer relations, but on location and tranquility- seems fine. No amenities on site, so plan to eat out for all meals.

Good value in Fann Hock.
The room was clean and confortable. AC worked well, bed was quite firm, bathroom was a bit tired but clean. Dakar's Fann Hock neighborhood is good. The Brasil Churrascaria restaurant is 2 blocks away. There’s an abundance of taxis day and night. All in all a better value then more expensive hotels nearby like the Terrou Bi or the Djollof.
