The Chapel House is an unusual, versatile and comfortable place to spend a holiday. It retains plenty of character with two pretty stained glass windows, ceiling mouldings in the main room, original wood flooring and lower wall paneling, and the original beams. It is made of slate mined just across the valley. It is easy to get to via the bustling and quaint little town of Chirk.
The large living space is essentially open plan. with a kitchen area, a large "rustic" dining table (made of floorboards reclaimed during the conversion), comfortably seating eight. There are two leather sofas, a fabulous log burner installed December 2017, and central heating. There are plenty of games, books and CDs & radio, and the internet is available via the local BT hub for £6 per day, or £18 for five days (free if you are a BT customer). Please note that there is no television.
Upstairs there is a spacious family bedroom with one double and two single beds. The mattresses are new with cotton sheets and plenty of pillows and throws including woolen blankets - for the depths of winter.
The bathroom has a roll top bath with shower attachment.
At a later date, work will commence on a second bedroom in a lower room, (with two single beds and a bunk bed) and shower room. (Currently that room is not ready, so I would ask guests to only go downstairs in the unlikely event of needing to use the back door as a fire escape).
The main room will also have a sofa bed, so there will be sufficient accommodation to cater for large family gatherings, art & music courses etc).
Please note that mobile coverage is for the EE network only in the valley. In Chirk and elsewhere other networks are covered.
Outdoors there is a patio at the front, and a side passage leading to the back door.
In the village there is a shop, post office, chemist cafe and play ground.
Many lovely walks can begin fom the Chapel House itself. The local area has plenty of interest to see and do just a short car ride away.
