Paris-Plages are a unique attraction and public works project for the people of Paris, offering temporary "pop up" beaches all summer long for the relaxation and enjoyment of locals and visitors. These beaches allow the shores of the Seine to take on the look of a riviera resort complete with palm trees.
They can be found in two different locations, both in the heart of the city centre, and they offer a wide range of fun activities for both kids and grown-ups from games to refreshments and more. These locations make for a great way to relax and enjoy some good old-fashioned family fun on your Parisian holiday.

Highlights of the Paris-Plages
Every summer, the Paris-Plages seek to offer a complete resort experience for residents and visitors to the city at 2 locations: the La Villette canal basin and the Parc Rives de Seine. During these times the riverfront is decked out with parasols, loungers and palm trees.
You can swim or enjoy watersports at the La Villette location, and enjoy board games, exhibitions, kids' workshops and sports-related events. If you get hungry during your visit, you're covered. A variety of options for takeaway food is available at open-air refreshment kiosks, and ice cream vendors can be found across the pop-ups.

What to know about the Paris-Plages
The Paris-Plages are completely free and open to the public, though food, certain events and exhibitions may require a fee. At the Parc Rives de Seine location, you can't swim or engage in watersports, but you can lounge on the chairs beneath the parasols and enjoy the city and view of the river.
Watersports and bathing are possible only at the La Villette location. Beach huts, toilets and showers are available here so you can change and clean up after your recreation. The events run from mid-July through the end of August and have been taking place since 2002.
