Pyrgos is a quiet village about 2 km from Fira and it has a few very good restaurants but that's about it - we went to be part of the Easter Friday night lights and climbed hundreds of stairs to th Ayia Panagia church - there are many churches!

Good
Santorini is a very busy Island and visitors should plan around the cruise ship schedule as the are gets quite busy when they are in port. There is a nice walk from Fira to Oia - plan on around 3 hours. The local bus is a good cost option.

Unless you stay in the busy, crowded areas, be sure to rent a car. Buses are available, but are often overcrowded or can take a few hours to get to your stop, Also, be sure to try the family run restaurants well outside of Fira and Oia.

Santorini was beautiful, although we visited in the off-season much of the island was closed and deserted. Fira was more open than Oia and other parts of the island. So lovely to be able to visit when it wasn't busy.

We spent most of our time in Oia, plus a day tour of several areas of the island. It was just what we expected. Had been to Santorini 30 years ago. It's grown but still beautifully unique.

I had been wanting to visit Santorini, for a long time, and off season was the perfect time to come! No crowds, great food, and hospitable locals, all made for a wonderful experience.

Going in March a lot of things were closed. Enough was open to enjoy the island. The benefit was it was not crowded with tourists. It was windy and felt colder but still delightful!

If you have bad knees or hips, this may not be the holiday for you - there are lots of steps to get anywhere!! Sensible footwear is a must - flip flops are a definite hazard!

Santorini is popular for a reason. It is stunning and the views and sunsets don't disappoint. Because it is so popular, it is busy, particularly in the summer months.

Santorini is a lovely island, we were there in December so almost all of the island was closed. I would really recommend a visit to the island, just not in December.
"Loved it! Very nice location, away from all the crowds, but only a short scenic drive from Fira and Oia. Very nicely done suites that looked relatively new. The only reason I gave it a 4 star on the amenities was due to the lack of a gym, but not a deal breaker for us.
Great staff!!!
Tim at the front desk was amazing! He provided us with great suggestions of what to do and took care of the reservations for an amazing 5 hour cruise that included one of the most beautiful sunsets we saw in Santorini.
Nikos at the bar/restaurant was also amazing, always making sure we had a great breakfast experience all 6 days we were there."
"Parking is a valuable option because walking to center/shopping is walkable form your hotel. El Greco is a beautiful resort and the breakfast is wonderful. The staff is friendly and very helpful. "
"We had a lovely holiday here, clean room friendly staff, good pool, nice breakfasts and short walk to a great town with loads of tavernas and bars. Beach great, rocky but beautiful. Prepare to haggle down subbeds. Took our two young kids and it was all stress free and lovely. "
