Basic but clean
A basic hotel with a lot of stairs! Rooms were shabby looking but clean; bed was comfortable and shower was ok. Good location good value for money

Amsterdam
Comfortable and clean beds and close to the action and any transportation needs. Cute place but you definitely have to be flexible with what to expect. Sharp rising stairs, wobbly bannisters, no AC, noisy to the street, no TV or water kettle, no cups for drinks.

Mold in the showers. The walls are paper and the other guests were very disruptive and the hotel does not do anything to address noise. The rooms smell bad. Overall, a terrible experience and would advise NOT to stay here.

I would call this a hostel rather than a hotel. The staff were amazing from the receptionist to the cleaner. It’s really noisy so don’t expect to get much sleep, it is an old building though so I didn’t expect soundproofing. There isn’t a lift (again as one would expect) and the stairs are rather steep. Shampoo and body wash 2 in one available in the bathroom, if you get an en-suite room. The location is amazing

2/10 Poor

This place is one of the worst places ever actually this place is supposed to be a hostel for people who are in extremely short budget, but this is not a normal decent hotel and the pictures they show is very deceiving. I was paying 200 per night for something is supposed to be $25 because it was very bad poor quality.

Don’t do it!
This place is crap. Not worth the money to save. Complete false advertisement because the rooms look bigger in the pictures. The single room is actually smaller than a prison cell you see in movies. City sounds all around. If you don’t like tight spaces, don’t get this place. Even the staircase is super tight. They also don’t mention that the showers are shared and not close to your room. I immediately checked out. Just not worth it.

Bring earplugs. My own fault I didn’t realize it’s just a room with a bed and sink. The shower and toilet are shared in the hallway. Too expensive for just a bed. Very old facilities.

Should describe the stairs going to the rooms, only the first set of stairs is ok but after that is a bit scary. Can't open the windows because of the smell from outside but did open anyway because it's too stuffy. The rooms are clean.

Ignore the haters: this is a great budget hotel.
Before you read my review, understand a few things about this hotel: 1. It is a low-budget hotel intended for travellers who simply want a comfortable place to sleep. 2. This is a dorm, not a traditional hotel. Bathrooms are shared. 3. This is a historic Amsterdam building. The dimensions of corridors, stairwells, & rooms will not comply with modern standards. With that said, on to the review. I simply wanted a cheap but clean place to sleep for one night: I was not going to spend much time inside the room, and I just wanted a good night's rest. Hotel Continental matched all my requirements: it was literally the cheapest place to stay in Amsterdam with private rooms (as opposed to a hostel). The reception was very friendly and checked me in 30 minutes before the posted 2pm check-in time. I had to climb some very steep, narrow stairs to reach my room, but it's not as bad as people think. The room was clean & modern (appeared to be recently renovated), and it came with a sink, desk, & comfortable twin bed! The carpet and walls in the corridors were worn, but those spaces were clean. The shared bathroom is very tiny, but it was newly renovated with new fixtures & tiles! I slept like a log: my room was quiet and comfortable with a large window for ventilation. Wifi was great, with 100+ Mbps download! Overall, it's a great budget hotel. They've recently renovated the rooms & bathrooms so many of the reviews are outdated. Have reasonable expectations and you'll love this place!

Expect extreme amounts of noise at all hours. This place is directly on a busy walking corner with lots of partying going on all through the night until the morning. You are directly above the smoking and loud yelling all night.

This is a budget hotel in a very busy area. It is a block from Central Station and a block from the Red Light District. The area is very loud until about 3am. We used a white noise app on the phone to help with the loud voices from the street. However, the staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean. The location is good to walk everywhere. Our family of four shared a quad room and enjoyed our stay.

The room was fine. The bathroom was fine. The only thing I would say negatively is the lighting in the room was very dim. They just need a brighter light in the room.
