First off, the staff was excellent. Friendly, accommodating, helpful and kind. Jorge and Adriana at the front desk were incredible. Eddy, Ingrid and Manuel did everything to make our stay comfortable from serving breakfast to handling all our room needs. And Reuben at the beach bar was all smiles, welcoming and made a mean michelada.
As for negatives, there are really just two. The hotel, while cute, is definitely a two star. The rooms are old, electricity randomly goes out, hot water is hit or miss…. Second, and this is really the biggest issue we had, Tulum is basically a club. One cannot escape constant pounding of house music. It’s as if the neighboring hotels are fighting over who can play the loudest club music. If you are looking for R&R while sitting next to ocean, there have to be better places. Though, if you are young, single, want to party all day/night, this could work well. And what was not mentioned on any travel site is the weekly Sunday party at the hotel. Over 100 people showed up and took over 95% of the beach area of the hotel. We were there for 9 days, so losing one day to madness was ok. We would have been livid if we were only there for a long weekend and lost the day.
