I was very disappointed with my stay at The Freehand, as I used to live in New York and years ago enjoyed the rooftop. The front desk was rude and a bit snooty, which for the rate of this hotel feels very unnecessary for the attitude and not caring about a guest's stay. I asked for a kettle when I checked in and they said one would be sent up within 10-15 minutes, but I never got one the entire time.
The rooms are extremely small, even by New York's standards. I got a King room, which I don't believe was actually a King. They put me in a room with one small window that looked into a creepy small area between two buildings so I had no natural light. There were virtually no amenities in the room either, besides shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
The walls are very thin, so you hear everything especially if close to an elevator, making it hard to sleep or sleep in.
I think there are better options within the price range than the Freehand.
