I stayed at the Park Central NY from January 24 to January 28, 2025, and was illegally charged $500 plus fees for vaping, despite the fact that neither I, my husband, nor my 11-year-old daughter smoke.
The charge was based solely on the hotel’s electronic room monitoring system, without any real evidence or investigation. When I disputed it, the staff dismissed my explanation. In reality, my wife and daughter used a Dyson hair dryer for 1.5 hours while I took a long, hot shower (40 minutes), which likely triggered a false reading.
This hotel imposes baseless charges without proof and refuses to hear guest disputes. Future guests beware: you could be unfairly charged with no way to contest it. Given their unethical business practices and lack of accountability, I highly recommend avoiding this hotel.
