Wow, where to begin. If you ever wanted to feel like a Russian Oligarch or Arab Sheik, this is the place for you. The lobby and hallways have enough gold paint to make Donald Trump think "it's a bit much". The rooms are extravagant - that's the only word for it - but not terribly functional. Huge stone tub, beautiful Frescos on the walls and ceilings, velvet furniture, etc etc. The room felt like I should have loved it, but the hotel is like a ghost town. Virtually no staff and even fewer guests. The bathroom is amazing looking but the shower lacked pressure and had inconsistent hot water. The bars of Soap are meant to look like gold bullion (which was cool) but leave gold flecks on your hands. The room had real porcelain cups and dishes, but a virtually empty minibar. You get the picture. With a little more staff and effort it could be great, but as is it is hard top recommend.
