Kadıköy is the area to stay, if you like to eat and drink well on a reasonable budget. Loved catching the ferries to the tourist sights in the day to the other parts of the city. The M4 Metro runs direct to the Gökßen Airport (SAW) for € 0.50 each!

Good place for families. Lots of police presence, so felt safe. All main mosques and museums within easy walking distance. Plenty of dining options and shops around, all open till very late night. The trams are very frequent and run till late night.

Istanbul is a fantastic city. This is our 6th visit and still find new interesting places each time. The prices are far better on the Asian side , Kadikoy area as most tourists stay on European side To cross the Bosphorus costs 20tl(less than 50p )

You may need an online Turkish to English translator always on hand to avoid miscommunication (probably should get a Turkish SIM-card w/ Internet access). Learn how to use and refill Istanbul Card before your arrival (watch some videos on Youtube)

It's such a unique place to be in. So much to see and do. Public transport is the way to travel, by far the easiest and cheapest. Forget Bosphorous tours, use the public ferry! Each area is different so it's great to be exploring. Very busy though!

If you like cities, Istanbul is fascinating. It is not quiet though! Apart from the major attractions, many within walking distance, we enjoyed a Bosphorus cruise and a visit to the amazing Museum of Innocence with insight into more recent history.

We had a fantastic stay and would thoroughly recommend the Istanbul travel card which we used on the tram system and ferries. Turkish people were so friendly and willing to help. Information volunteers and tourist police everywhere to help also.

My first visit to Istanbul was a very positive surprise. A modern European city full of well maintained and preserved ancient sites. Easy to navigate...a great tourist city. I was there two full days, and could easily have spent a couple more.

Safe, friendly and so much to see! Lots of walking and hills wherever you go. Consider staying a few nights in Sultanhamet area, then move to a different section of town for a completely different experience. Like visiting several cities in one!

Istanbul is a city that has so much history to offer. Other than the many must go places, even roaming aimlessly in it was a treat. You simply would run into places you unexpected sights that were interesting. At least that's my experience.
"A taste of old world Istanbul! Pera Palace does not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we were greeted courteously by all staff. They went out of their way to be accommodating. The property is gorgeous, truly a jewel in the New District. The food was excellent, especially the breakfast buffet. If you are looking for luxury and comfort in Istanbul, do check out the Pera Palace. "
"The location of the hotel and very neat. Some of the receptionists can be rude or they don’t know the manners how talk with the guests. When I checked in early morning I was given a room which I did not like the view of the room at all Mr Ayoub was kind enough to give me a better view room. Nice guy and very professional who knows how to make the guests happy. I left my shoes in the previous room which I remembered that I left my shoes called and I was told your shoes was not there. I was later transferred to the reception to deal the matter and I was told to wait but was not sure whether they find or not. I went to the reception and one of the receptionist was rude the way he spoke with me like I was his kid. By GO TO YOUR ROOM AND WAIT THERE. I felt it wasn’t nice but my nature is just to ignore. I did not like that manner. If I knew his name I would have mentioned as he need to be thought respect with the guests and elderly people. "
"I have been coming to Istanbul regularly and honestly couldn’t believe I hadn’t stayed here before. It is everything you would want in a 5 star hotel — Service was top notch from everyone in the hotel staff (front desk, concierge, house keeping etc..), rooms were big, spacious and clean. Hotel facilities were modern and well kept. The location is very nice in Besiktas — you can walk and taxis are available easily. All in all i would highly recommend! Special thanks to Bulent and Mehmet for their warm welcome."
