Nice staff but that’s it
Staff were very nice. The bed was comfortable but the room was very small and noisy and I was constantly woken up. The bathroom was terrible and the shower had no drainage so I was standing in a bath of water. When I checked in the staff said they upgraded my room…it was awful!

Perfect stay
The staff was excellent, the room was perfect, and the 24 hour bar with complimentary drinks was incredible. Next time I'm in Old San Juan I will definitely be staying at El Colonial.

Great little place for a cosy stay in the heart of Old San Juan. I would t for more than a few days though.

Disappointing/Will not stay again
Last two days of our stay, no hot water. Floors filthy. Requested room to be cleaned. Requested Hot water. While on a excursion recieved a message saying everything had been addressed. That message was a lie. Absolutely nothing had been done! No bed made, No fresh towels, No Hot water (Had to shower cold!) Had to complain to staff to get someone to come up. Old furnishing. I do not recommend.

Cute hotel
The staff at this hotel were friendly and helpful. The open bar in the lobby was nice . Check in was smooth and Natalia and Marcos as well as the other front desk staff were there whenever we had a question. The only suggestion is that the showers should have grab bars for safety.

Fantastic hotel, but disappointed
Love the hotel because of the fantastic location and amazing staff. The adult only concept and open bar was exactly what we were looking for, sadly we wouldn’t stay again, the room was basic and actually felt unpleasant to stay in, no beside cabinets nowhere to unpack, other than a rail with a handful of hangers and a bathroom is dated. It’s a real shame as we loved the hotel concept, but would only stay again if the rooms were completely overhauled

To be petty: I've seen much older buildings in Europe with elevators (added, of course, in the 19th and 20th centuries). The hot water is unstable in the showers (or, certainly in my room). Magnificent staff of by smart, young people ready for intelligent conversation and useful suggestions —of things actually off the beaten path.

Excellent location
Having booked for 4 nights post our cruise holiday, we were upgraded to a bigger room so that we would be more comfortable. And it was. The room was very basic but it was spacious with one double and one single bed. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night. The services from all staff were excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic as it was very easy to walk everywhere within the old San Juan. The rooftop area was nice to sit in the evening.

Nice place!
I would absolutely stay here again. It's pretty awesome to be handed your room key and asked if you need a beer. The internet worked fairly well, the rooms were clean, and I could not hear any riff raff outside. Also, it's very well-located in the heart of everything.

Great little escape in Old San Juan w open free bar! Extremely friendly and accommodating staff! Easy walking distance to food shopping and municipal inexpensive parking. This is my second time there. They must have noted and gave me a free bottle of wine for the room. Great terrace view.Safe area.

Home away from home
Second time at El colonial in 2 years. This time I traveled alone for a week on the island but I needed to rest. Parcha with Vodka at the front desk and I slept like a baby from 4 pm - 10:45 am. I feel at home here and I feel safe. Off to my travels celebrating my 50th Birthday. Thank you Family at El Colonial
