We booked a standard double room. As suggested by the name, it was standard – simple but functional. The windows overlooked a busy street but the double-glazed windows blocked out most of the noise. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The a/c in the room was excellent and there was plenty of hot water. Wifi was occasionally a bit patchy.
The reception desk and hotel rooms are located one floor above ground level with no lift. You need to be able to man-handle your luggage up a steep flight of stairs.
Staff on the reception desk were helpful and welcoming. For example, when we revealed that we were going to the opera in the old Roman arena, reception lent us cushions.
If you like to spend time at a hotel, outside your room, you may like to know that Verona Enjoy’s amenities – outdoor terrace, communal lounge area and kitchen – are a bit drab. The outdoor terrace was grubby and had to cope with the hot air exhaust coming from the a/c units. The communal lounge area was just a couch plonked next to the reception desk. The kitchen, which wasn’t particularly inviting, had limited amenities but I think it would be possible to prepare a basic meal.
The hotel is well located with most sights in easy walking distance. Wonderful gelato at Gelateria La Romana diagonally opposite the hotel.
