Disappointed - overall cleanliness is slipping
Ended up having to change rooms late in the 2nd day of my stay because the shower that had been reported that morning was still not repaired. Moved to the new room and got to work responding to day's email from not being in the office and didn't notice until late that the floor of the bathroom had not been mopped since at least the prior occupant's stay - as a guy, looking at an unclean black marble floor, you know what you're looking at. Needless to say, that's just poor and it was too late in the evening for me to change rooms again. I noticed after that that most of the surfaces (sink top, side tables, etc) had clearly not been wiped down in some time.
Next morning I go to have breakfast and the only people there were me and the attendant who was intently watching Youtube videos by the bar (I couldn't help but hear them.) I almost sat in a sticky chair that someone had clearly spilled a drink in and onto the floor below. I left the chair to the side of the table to signal "hey - this is a mess." After breakfast, I walked up to the desk to share my concerns as I was leaving and noticed that the chair that I was pointing out was pushed back in and nothing had been cleaned up.
This just signals to me a lack of supervision and focus on details. I didn't realize this hotel was part of the Marriott chain but it certainly isn't part of the standards I was taught by Marriott early in my career. Just disappointing - I actually like the hotel.
