8/10 Very good

This is our second stay at Zar Culiacan and have again found the staff to be very helpful and polite. The only downside is the surrounding properties - it is an industrial area (although a large mall is close) and consequently the area is not very visually appealing. What you make up for in proximity to the highway, you lose in visual attractiveness. We would definitely stay here again as an overnight stopover.

Just off the toll highway heading south. Not close to the center of Culiacan. The staff were very helpful and friendly and despite my very limited Spanish, and staff with minimal English we were able to communicate. There is a fairly large mall near the hotel, and would be an easy walk if not for the absence of sidewalks and the need to walk along a fairly busy roadway.

Beds
I just needed to sleep and continue the trip back home. The beds were squekee and loud. Only gave me two shower towels. No hand towels or floor mat. The bathroom floor will get wet with shower.

Cheap stay in Culiacan
Hotel was fine. Mattresses a bit hard but everything was clean. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was simple but a good price. There is a shopping mall within walking distance. Parking is open and no secure but we had no issues.

Everything was ok except the staff was really loud in the morning yelling at each other across the front hall at 6 o’clock in the morning. Their voices really carried.

Disappointed
I am very disappointed with this place and I was honestly in high hopes of it! 1) I arrived to check in and THEY FORGOT to reserve the double-bed room I had reserved 2 weeks prior 2) The young lady went out of her way and gave me 2 rooms instead BUT one room was bed-less! So she had to place me in another room (again) 3) My shower handle (room 102) was broken. I had to tweak it to get it to work since she had mentioned they were very short staffed and I was exhausted I didn’t even bother asking for help again! 4) There’s no blankets on bed, just a plain sheet (as seen on pic, it’s a sheet not a blanket) 5) The overnight people had the TV in the lobby (which our rooms were next to) FULL BLAST with the soccer game. I initially thought it was an event or something in the meeting room because of how loud it was, cheering, screaming and the game comentators full blast! I realized it was the game until we were heading out at 4AM After driving 12 hours that was the last thing we needed! We end up leaving at 4AM and I am NEVER staying here again! I’d rather drive a few minutes further into Culiacan center and stay elsewhere.
It was literally just placed hanging on there, good thing I tweaked with it to get it to work
Literally all you get is a sheet, no blankets

The power to the hotel went off around 2 am. It was very uncomfortable since we are not used to the heat. We did not sleep well and were very tired the following morning. Unsure if hotel had an overload or what.

We were greeted by not just one, but two large cockroaches. The airconditioning didn't work well and if you needed a glass - even if it was a plastic one - you had to go down to the Reception and request it! Won't be staying here again.
