The food in the restaurant area is reasonable, good price and portions. Some staff have a poor grasp of English. The location attracts a lot of lower-class people, for some reason (probably the food portion size and prices).
The hotel itself is grim to terrible. I would not recommend this as a suitable location for someone on a business trip, unless your business is dealing drugs, in which case it's perfect. Especially for those rendezvous where you need to move suspicious packages between vehicles in the car park, avoiding the undercover police officers and observation/evidence gathering cameras (which there must be, judging by the clientele).
Someone tried getting into my room in the middle of the night, and I noticed the handle was damaged in the morning.
The beds were not made, and shower soap was just shampoo.
When I came back to my room in the afternoon, the door to my room was slightly ajar; someone had been in and not closed it properly (I suspect housekeeping; however, there was not much housekeeping done). It was a good job I had taken my valuables/laptop, etc, with me, else I suspect this would have gone. There was no point making any complaints as I felt it would fall on deaf ears and nothing they hadn't heard before. My fault because you pay for what you get in life, and for £50 per night, I only have myself to blame...... never again
