Disaster from non-start.
Rebooked stay not sent to hotel. No rooms available.
Sent to sister hotel in Haslemere. Superior room allegedly, but no comparison to what I should have stayed in.
Ripped wallpaper, soiled toilet, not enough staff in bar/ restaurant.
Tonsillitis didn't help, but Upham Inns have some work to do to get back to where they were 12 months ago. Sad.
I might add, I have stayed in both properties previously, The Swan has always been exceptional, Harper's Haslemere never really floated my boat in comparison.
The mix up of the booking, with not much sympathy from the staff, just a " we have a room in Haslemere" after a 3 hour drive was not the best news.
After contacting Hotels.com, they arranged the swap, although they did offer to find an alternative and I wish I had agreed. Also they gave me a generous discount count for my next booking.
Really quite sad, I love the Swan, but think my time staying there has come to an end.
