Stayed for 1 night to meet up with family. The location is excellent right in the heart of the village of Knowle. Parking was just across the road and was not an issue at the time we arrived 3pm.
We had to wait nearly 15 minutes for a man came to check us in. There were 2 other guests waiting behind us. Check in was from 3pm, but the only explanation was that he had been busy in another part of the restaurant/bar area. A lady behind the bar had previously acknowledged us and said she would get someone but then didn't come back to explain the delay.
The room was comfortable and clean, but the pillows were very hard and gave me a pain in my head.
The shower was over the bath and a bit slippy to get and out of although you could ask for a safety mat. Plenty of hot water but dangerously hot (notice in place).
Young male breakfast waiter was not very friendly. The freshly cooked hot breakfast was good but the chipped plates were not. Cereal, juice and yoghurts etc were self service, as were hot drinks. This was arranged in a small space with a table close by so I wouldn't have liked to have to sit at that table. Why every guest had to pour their own hot water or coffee from a thermos jug I don't know. This is hardly Covid safe nor is it really efficient. It would be very congested if the hotel had been full. Tea/coffee in pots to the table would be far better.
The wilting spray carnations in tiny vases on each table just added to the disappointment. Not impressed
