The county of Derbyshire in England’s East Midlands is famed for being the home of Peak District National Park, the Pennine Hills and part of England’s National Forest. Derbyshire, however, offers plenty of other things to do besides adventures in the vast, untamed wilderness. History enthusiasts can tour the Chatsworth House mansion, the medieval Haddon Hall manor or the stately Elizabethan Hardwick Hall. Families will love visiting the period-accurate Crich Tramway Village.

Interesting museums also abound, including the Buxton Museum & Art Gallery, Cromford Mills and the Fossil Museum at the Heights of Abraham. On the Peak Rail, you can take a nostalgic ride through the countryside on an authentic vintage train. For a cultural experience, take in a show at the Buxton Opera House.
